Miss Rozy came for routine checkup,Jai handed over her pretty yellow long gown dress for darling's special day and said,it's just a first gift and many more on the way,get her ready.She took it and said,this is just so pretty,this color will suit her so much.They signalled Miss Rozy to shift her into another room for sometime,so they could just finish off the room decorations.Jai helped her getting onto wheel chair,while miss rozy made excuse for some medical test to take her off the room.
As soon as,they left,Both of them took out balloons,banner and other items to decorate the room.Dhwani started pumping in balloons while Jai will just roll the rubber inside around to close the passage of air.Soon it was all balloons on the floor of white and purple color,which was grandma's favourite.Jai took the banner in his hand and took step up on the chair to paste it on the wall,while Dhwani kept holding the chair to keep it balanced.Then,Jai fixed the LED lights on the wall while Dhwani pasted pictures of grandma in between the small bulbs,of when she was young,she got married,her trips with grandpa,childhood pictures of Jai with grandma,the pictures from young age trips with Jai,and then lots of pictures of grandma and grandpa witnessing their eternal love throughout their life.
After fixing this up all,they took a breath and looked around,it was eye-catching,they gave a thumbs-up to each other.Dhwani asked,Do you need one more time practice? He replied,No i think I am all set for it.This time,I will sing out of my heart and it will definitely touch her heart as you said once,singing from heart touches heart.She smiled.Jai asked,So what's your surprise? She replied,wait for it.It's a surprise for you too.
The room was all decorated,while giving last touches to everything,she asked,Jai where is your dad? Have you checked on him? He replied,I didn't get any response,I am not sure if he is coming,but the way darling expected him makes me feel sad,I should drop him a text again.Jai took out his cellphone,saw a missed call from his Dad and a text message,"I missed my flight got stuck in a meeting,I will be coming from next flight,see you at hospital."Jai said,I told you Dhwani,he can never get time for us.Jai it's darling's special day,don't get upset,he might come by the end of the day.
Jai replied,but it's not sure whether darling will survive through the end of the day,haven't you noticed her dull eyes,pale face and shivering hands,it is breaking me down but I have to stand strong for her.Dhwani passed him chair to set up his small stage to perform said,Jai you are really strong,let's make it happen for her.He replied,thanks for standing by my side.
Aadi came running to Jai,hugged his legs from behind and said,Hi buddy.Jai turned around seeing Aadi made him smile,Aadi's innocence took his worries off for sometime,he went down on his knees and hugged him back saying Hi champ so happy to see you again.Aadi said wow,so much balloons.Then he waved at Di and went to touch Dhwani's mom's feet and asked everyone to settle down on couch.Dhwani asked Mehr,Di have you brought my laptop? She said yes how can I have forgotten that and when did you guys decorated the room? It's just looking amazing.Dhwank replied,we just have finished decorations.Jai looked at her and said,Is there any surprise in it? Dhwani replied,keep guessing.Aadi said in between,there is something,maasi don't even showed me.Dhwani looked at Aadi and asked him to shhhhhhh.
Dhwani went down to bring the cake,at the same time Jai went to take darling back at the room for the surprise.Jai bring her back and just before entering into room closed her eyes telling her,there's something for her.While everyone was hiding in the room,as soon as they entered into room and Jai took his hands off her eyes,everyone jumped and said "Happy Birthday".Darling became speechless,she looked around and hold Jai's hand asking how did you do this? Jai went down beside her wheel chair and said,It's your special day and my queen deserves royal welcome.She took a while looking around and said this is so beautiful,it is beyond my imagination.
Aadi came running to her,hugged her and said,I am Aadi.My mother name is Mehr.I am 5 years old.Happy birthday to you and I have made something for you,I want to give you the first gift Dadi.Everyone had a smile listening his innocent talks,he took out a folded paper out of his pocket and handed over to grandma,she opened it,it was a drawing of old lady outside the hospital along with a man and a woman.Three of them were holding hands and it was written over top of it,Smile along with drawn smile beside it.Grandma blessed Aadi saying,this is not just first gift,it's a best gift,I ever had.He looked at Mehr and said,I told you,Dadi will smile.She smiled at him.Grandma kissed his forehead and said,you are a lovely child.
Dhwani's mom and Di greeted her by touching her feet and wished her Happy Birthday.Grandma became so emotional seeing everyone coming for her,Dhwani came closer to her,wiped her tears saying,Don't cry,we have plenty of surprises on the way,will you gonna cry on each of them? She smiled.Dhwani put his head in her lap and said,Happy Birthday the most gorgeous woman,I have ever met and you are looking so pretty in this yellow dress.Darling tried picking her hand up to bless her but her hands started shivering,Dhwani and Jai together hold her hand together,then looked at each other,Dhwani blinked her eyes telling Jai to stay strong.
Jai wheeled her in and made her sit in front of the small stage they had created.Miss Rozy joined them, bringing cake from the pantry and chocolates,sat down giving Aadi a chocolate while closing the door behind to avoid much noise going out,everyone made them settled.Jai took his chair to perform and said,this one is for you darling,Dhwani sat beside her,gave thumbs up to Jai.He said, Darling do you remember how you craved for that last performance of grandpa and I never get this idea throughout my life to make you live that moment again because we all keep moving on without thinking,we miss out moments to cherish,we miss out living running through our lives but the day I felt my life slipping away,that's you,I started thinking to give you those lost moments.Then I found Dhwani,which made it all possible.
So here I am,let's start,he started playing along with singing,"Lag ja gale,ke fir haseen raat ho na ho,shyad fir is janam mey mulakaat ho na ho".The moment he started singing,grandma went lost into the flashbacks of his grandpa singing his heart out on her birthdays,her eyes became moist,Dhwani kept holding her hand.There was picture of his grandpa and grandma hanging behind Jai,she looked at that picture and for one more time in her life,she felt that Jai's grandpa lively.Then Jai put ukulele aside and went closer to his grandma,still singing offered her,his hand for the dance the same way like his grandpa used to do it,her eyes glittered up with love as she got a chance to relive that moment again,gave her shivering hand into his,stood up herself even though she was quite weak by this time,Dhwani thought to herself,love can give anyone strength.
Jai moved her slowly right and left while singing,then he raised his finger up in air,she took hold of it,he placed his hand behind her back giving her support helped her to take one turn,she enjoyed it,she had a brief smile on her face,Jai eyes brighten up seeing life in her lifeless eyes after a long time,everyone started clapping.Jai lifted her up in the air and moved her little left and right,She started laughing while saying,get me down Jai.He kept moving her like this,while she laughed her heart out after long hours while everyone's face got lit up seeing her happy amidst of everything she has gone through.He made her sit on wheelchair back,she cried while laughing out loud,Dhwani asked what happen? She said nothing these are tears of joy.Aadi came closer to her wiped her tears and said Don't cry grandma.She smiled at him.
Jai asked,was it exactly that you missed and wished for secretly to happen for one last time? She replied,it's even more beautiful than that,and whispered slowly,you played ukulele better than your grandpa ever played everyone laughed hearing that.Then she asked,But I never knew you know how to play ukulele,he replied I never knew that I learnt it.She looked at him surprised,He told her It was Dhwani who was teaching her ukulele behind her back,I met her through coaching centre and she agreed to give me classes here.Grandma looked at both of them with surprised face and said,I never felt like Dhwani is someone whom we just know from few days,it was like we have known her since ages.Grandma said to Dhwani's mom,your daughter is really a magic,she had made us hers within few days.Her mother replied,you both have given her so much love.
Miss Rozy brought cake for cake cutting,Jai checked on his cellphone to see if there was any text from his dad,but there wasn't any.Dhwani noticed him and tell him in gestures keep patience.He smiled back,Aadi went into grandma's laps saying,I'll blow candles with her like I did with Maasi.Dhwani's mom asked Aadi to get down saying,Dadi is sick baby just stand beside her.Darling said,he is such a sweet baby,stay in my lap,we will blow candles together.They blew candles while everyone sang,"Happy Birthday to You".From the either sides Dhwani and Jai blew bubbles for giving special effects.Aadi feed her with the first bite then everyone one by one feed her,taking blessings from her.
After the cake got served to everyone,Dhwani said it's my surprise time.She opened her laptop,everyone gathered around grandma while Dhwani and Jai sat on either side.She played a video,where Dhwani popped up saying,Hi Darling Happy Birthday to you.Finally this special day have come and I feel so glad to share the journey with you."Mere Papa hmesha kaha karte the,Zindagi lambi ho na ho Yaadgaar honi chiy,Usi Yaadgar zindagi se mene apke kuch pal chupke se ked kre h jo me aaj apko gift mey dena chahugi".Jai looked at her surprisingly as the video proceed,Thier childhood pictures from Jai's album started showing up on the screen,then the picture from Jai trying to braid her hair while she was sleeping popped up,he looked at her asking when did you took this? She smiled,I am secret agent.
Then there was picture where Jai was feeding her Golgappa,next one was where he got slept holding her hand beside her,another one popped up when Jai was pulling her cheeks,the next one was taken by miss Rozy when both went asleep at either sides listening grandma's old story,few pictures from their trips to few pictures from her marriage then to moments with grandpa those sight-seeing,sipping coffee together,having their son to seeing him grow to them getting old,then there were few short clips of grandma's reaction when she had seen her ward changing into one she had back at her home,then from when Jai had become golgappa wala,few filter boomerangs enjoying the moment,Dhwani's cake cutting with darling,then again the pictures started popping up,where Jai was looking at grandma with eyes full of love,Grandma blessing her while he was sleeping beside her,next one was from when Jai and Grandma was enjoying old movie in laptop,next came from the terrace where Jai was practicing alone for the big day,Jai hugging grandma before leaving for Dhwani's birthday eve and at last all the pictures started popping up which they three had taken together every other day just celebrating another day of their life.
Grandma's eyes got filled up with love and joy revisiting all those memories since Jai came into her life then how he started growing up in front of his eyes and now how time has reversed and he takes care of her like she used to in his childhood.Then she went lost thinking about how Dhwani came across their life and changed it completely.She kept looking for a while touching the screen,the last picture showed up of Jai and Grandma's first picture ,when she was young,her hairs were black and she had a healthy body with all of her charm which have taken up by this disease.She said after thinking a lot,thanks Dhwani for making me relive those moments again,which I have seen as well as which I haven't seen,I had never imagined getting this much of love.I had a beautiful journey,it was beyond what I expected out of my life and after seeing this video,I could go into forever sleep peacefully.It is a very precious moment for me to see my whole life standing in front of me,talking to me again,thankyou so much bacha I love you.Dhwani hugged her saying,you are not going anywhere,and we all love you so much.
Aadi said "Mumma bhukh lag rahi hai,hum samosa kab khaenge".Everyone laughed,Miss Rozy said let me serve for you.Everyone settled down,taking pictures chatting with each other while she served snacks to everyone.Jai was looking outside of the window,checking his cellphone,it was about time for sunset,Dhwani went beside him and asked,what's up? He replied,the day is about to end and he is still nowhere,I shouldn't have trusted him for anything.Dhwani replied,it's okay Jai,he is the one who is missing out beautiful moments of life.You,please don't get upset and enjoy this moment.He smiled,yes you are right and went beside her darling feeding her from his own hands,she wasn't eating much so he was giving her very small bites of fruits.
Suddenly Grandma coughed,Dhwani passed the glass of water.But she didn't stopped coughing,Jai patted her back to stop her coughing but it became worse,she tried to hold the glass of water but it got fell out of her hand,she was coughing so badly,it became difficult for her to breathe.Miss Rozy put her the oxygen mask on to controll the situation,grandma was breathing heavily,she asked Jai to call out Doctor.Mehr took Aadi out along with Dhwani's mom,while Dhwani kept holding her hand saying keep breathing,keep breathing.Dhwani's tears started rolling down,but she wiped them saying please darling keep breathing.
The doctors ran into room,taking charge of her asked Jai and Dhwani to wait outside while Miss Rozy assisted doctor telling them readings from the screen attached,another nurse helped passing syringe and other neccesity.Jai was crying by now,Dhwani kept holding his hand saying she will be fine,she will be fine Jai.
There was a small temple of lord Ganesha on the same floor,Jai ran towards it,folding his hands in prayers bending down while tears came rolling down from his cheeks kept murmuring Please god save her.Please save her,take anything from me,Please save her.Dhwani was praying with closed eyes for her well being,Miss Rozy came out after a while with tears in her eyes said,Dhwani She has struggled to live for 40 minutes,but now she has very less time left,she wants to meet you and Jai, after saying this she ran inside crying.Dhwani's face fell off hearing the news,her heart started pounding heavily,with every step she was taking towards Jai,it was becoming more heavier,she put her hand on Jai's shoulder broking the news went down on her knees crying saying I am sorry,Jai.He wasn't able to grasp and accept everything,Dhwani controlled herself and said Jai let's go, we have to be strong for her.If she has to go away,she should go away seeing us smile,it will help her leaving all of us behind,let's not make her last journey tough.He replied with heavy throat,I will be strong.
They both rushed into room,darling was having hard time at breathing.Dhwani and Jai were standing at either side,the doctor said let's give them moment and everyone left room.She tried to get up a little to talk,Jai helped her and said,Darling we are here with you,don't push yourself much.She said,holding their hands,Jai today was the best day of my life,it was best birthday surprise I ever had,even you play better than your grandpa,she managed to laugh through tears and continued,I want it to celebrated forever.I don't want you to lose yourself,when I will be not around.Promise me,you will keep smiling like the day 1 when you came into my life and hold my fingers with your little ones,Promise me.Jai broke down in tears and said I promise you,I promise you I will celebrate this day like this forever,I love you so much.She replied,I love you too so much,I'll keep looking at you through stars with your grandpa,I will stay with you.
She then took out a small box from the side table,it was a beautiful pendent,she handed over it to Dhwani saying,this was gifted to me by grandpa,I want to give it to you as my blessing,you have filled our lives with joy and love.I used to worry about Jai what if something gonna happen to me,whom he will call his and feel like a family with.You are the one who made my worries go away,please promise me,you'll stay beside him.Promise me,So I can die happily,darling's voice started to breaking down.Dhwani hugged her and said crying,I promise you,I will never leave him alone.She opened her arms to hug both of them,as soon as three of them hugged together,her eyes became close,the heart beat zig zags went off with straight line,Jai and Dhwani kept hold of her until there was noise of briefcase falling down,he turned around it was his Dad who was looking at them with a blank face.
